I used to do an ancestor altar at Samhain/Halloween/Día de Muertos, mostly for my daughter. I would put out photos of people she never met, along with little trinkets that symbolized something about each person (a wagon wheel for the wagon maker, a book for the book lover, a tiny paint palette for the artist, etc.) It was a way to connect to the people who she would never meet (and many I've never met either).
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the Crone, I think of the wisdom of experience and how she passes that on to younger generations.
What a lovely thing to do. You've reminded me I have ancestors who are still here and I should connect with them. Thank you!
DeleteThe Crone, or the dark aspect of the goddess is always calling out to me this time of year. She is encouraging me to go within, to reflect and to dig a little bit deeper than usual :)
