I think this is an untrustworthy 'now you see it now you don't' sort of tree. If the gent turns back I bet the 'candelabra' of cups will become into eight candle snuffers. He's right to walk away from those games. Our man's hat and beard point in the right direction. The rabbit's thumping leg encourages him to heed his intuition while the butterfly beckons him to a better place ahead. Put one foot in front of the other while the bridge is still there...
You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could've, would've happened... or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the [ahem] on.
