Harvest

Daily Draw: The Faeries'  Oracle, The Lady of the Harvest,

keywords: Completion, grief, loss, harvest, release

I was struggling to equate harvest with loss. But then I've never been a farmer...Currently there are reports of a vegetable shortage. If we go off prices in the local store a sudden 200% shortfall in crops...

There is also a conspiracy theory circulating that because we voted to come out of Europe the Europeans are withholding their vegetables. I recall quite a political hoohah in the 70s about buying British apples instead of French Golden delicious. But I think the main conspiracy now is supermarkets taking advantage.

Not all harvests are of equal value but time spent dwelling on the 'loss' is less time  to plant and tend the new crop. But I am not a farmer.

Rambling post - full of a stinking cold.

  1. I think you need to do what the farmers do after the harvest (good or bad) - take a rest and get better! :)

    1. Thank you. It's not the worst one I've had and I've had a good 18month run without one :)

  3. Reminds me of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Eventually the gas prices became out of control. All types of industry raised their pricing base on the high cost of gasoline. When the gasoline prices started to come down, nothing else did. We became complacent with the pricing and absorbed them into our budgets. I recently read an article of the price of beef was coming down and the farmers and ranchers were all doom and gloom. They have enjoyed the excellent return on the beef for years. The problem is now people have to eat less beef because of high prices. I have no pity for them. They gouged the consumer for years.

    1. As you say it is so easy to absorb the increase into our budgets. The only way to correct the sharp practice is to stop buying the product or switch to another supplier...
